Abu Dhabi state-owned clean-energy company, held by ADNOC, Mubadala (the emirate's sovereign wealth fund), and TAQA. Stake closed Oct 1, 2024; seller was Energy Capital Partners.
Retained its existing 50% stake when Masdar bought out Energy Capital Partners.
Terra-Gen is a US independent power producer that develops, owns and operates wind, solar and battery-storage projects, with a fleet concentrated in California and Texas. In October 2024, Masdar closed its purchase of a 50% stake from Energy Capital Partners; Igneo Infrastructure Partners retained the other half, making Terra-Gen a 50/50 joint venture. At that close the company reported roughly 3.8 GW of operating capacity across about 30 sites and a development pipeline exceeding 12 GW.
Masdar’s half-ownership is the basis for the “foreign-owned” framing that recurs in opposition to Terra-Gen’s New York project — Masdar is owned by the Abu Dhabi state entities ADNOC, Mubadala, and TAQA. Terra-Gen’s New York footprint appears limited to the one project below.
